The Portuguese pair of Cristiano Ronaldo and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Coentrao looked to have sealed the points for Madrid but Juan Angel Albin had other ideas.
Real Madrid are having a troubled season in this season’s La Liga and Sunday night proved to provide yet another setback to Jose Mourinho’s men as they failed to impress the home faithful at Santiago Bernabeu.
Los Blancos welcomed Espanyol to the Spanish capital for their La Liga encounter and were looking to grab all the available points on card as they were already playing catch up with fellow title contenders Atletico Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
Ahead of the match-day, Barcelona topped the La Liga list and were trailed by Atletico Madrid, with the two having to face each other in the upcoming round of fixtures.
Before the fixtures, the Catalans held a 6 point lead over Los Rojiblancos and were a massive 11 points ahead of arch rivals Real Madrid.
Jose Mourinho’s men were sniffing blood as they were expecting the clash at Camp Nou to be a very tight one, which could see any of the two sides drop points.
However, things didn’t turn out to go according to plans as Real spilled the opportunity and themselves fell victim to a 2-2 draw with a spirited Espanyol side.
The hosts were off to a bad start as their defensive weaknesses were visible and Espanyol took exactly 31 minutes to exploit Real’s leaky rare-guard.
Garcia raced through a big hole left by Ramos and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iker-Casillas-c16815 to give the away side a 1-0 lead.
Real Madrid then had some http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325 cross right before the half time whistle.
Mourinho had harsh words for his team at the interval and they were proved as Madrid searched for the goal that would give them the lead.
Cristiano Ronaldo was at the helm of the damage again as his cute reverse pass found Coentrao, and the Portuguese left back finished brilliantly to send Real a goal up at 48 minutes.
Real looked to see the game out and this tactic proved costly as with the 88th minute, came surprise.
Juan Angel Albin slotted home from close range following a goal-mouth scramble and the home side was left with no time to respond.
The draw has seen Mourinho’s men fall 13 points behind Barcelona, a lead that many consider as un-coverable.
