Angela Stanford raised over $100,000 through Let Your Light Shine Charity Golf Tournament
American Angela Stanford thinks there is more to golf than just racking up titles and reeling in hefty earnings, as the star golfer likes to devote plenty of her precious time to charity and
welfare.
Having staged the seventh Let Your Light Shine Charity Golf Tournament in Forth Worth, Taxes, recently, Stanford raised over $100,000, which went directly to the scholarship fund being run
by Angela Stanford Foundation.
Although the annual Let Your Light Shine Charity Golf Tournament was not as star-studded as an ordinary LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournament, a large number of big names
took part in the event, putting their skills to the test in a nine-hole format.
Some of the prominent stars included world number two Stacy Lewis of the United States, Christina Kim, Dori Carter, Kristy McPherson, Jamie Hullett, Wendy Ward, Allison Hanna, Jenny Gleason,
Gerina Piller, Brittany Lang, Meredith Duncan, Katie Futcher, Amanda Blumenherst, Paige Mackenzie, Tiffany Joh and Leta Lindley.
Sharing her thoughts about the fund-raising event via her tweet, Stanford said she is pretty thrilled about the tournament, but likes to attribute all this work to the sport of golf.
She said she is lucky to be part of golf, which has helped her learn several things, not just the game.
“I truly have been blessed with the ability to play this crazy game of golf. My dad introduced me to the game at the age of 10 and I have been thanking him ever since (and sometimes wondering
what he was thinking!). With this game comes ups and downs, and everything I've learned in my life applies also to the golf course,” the American star said.
Stanford went on to say that an added benefit of playing professional golf is the chance to run charitable programmes.
The LPGA phenom capitalised on this opportunity and launched Let Your Light Shine Charity Golf Tournament in 2006.
“One of the most rewarding aspects of being a professional golfer is the ability to help others. In 2006, we began the Let Your Light Shine charity golf tournament benefiting the Lena Pope
Home and MHMR of Tarrant County,” she said.
Having proved her mettle on the LPGA Tour, Stanford has grabbed five victories so far and is seeking to add more to her stunning profile.
