Angelica Muyrong and Selina Sandiego enter into second round of 2011 Goal Pilipinas - Bingo Bonanza
Philippine’s Angelica Muyrong and Selina Sandiego have entered into the Women’s Singles second round of the 2011 Goal Pilipinas - Bingo Bonanza event, being held at Bacolod, Philippines, on Wednesday, June 1.
In the first round, Angelica brushed aside Rachelle Gabrielle Dizer in straight-sets in just 15 minutes, whereas, Selina thrashed Mary Anne Maranon in similar fashion by consuming only 20 minutes in the court. In the second round of Women’s Singles, Angelica will face Angela Malata, whereas, Selina will take on Danica San Ignacio.
Angelica played aggressively in the opening set of the match and spared no chance for Dizer to dominate the match. In the first-half, Angelica played far better than her opponent and reached at 11-6.
After the interval, she played with precision and her shot selection was perfect. Dizer had no answer to the powerful strokes of her opponent. Angelica clinched the opening game in just 8 minutes by a margin of 21-11.
The second set was identical to the first one, as Angelica played tremendous badminton throughout the set and ended it in just 7 minutes, with a surprising 21-11 score. The score of this 15-minute short match was 21-11 and 21-11.
In another Women’s Singles match, Selina demonstrated a top-class performance against Maranon in a straight-set fight. The score was tied at 15-15, when Selina executed semi-smashes and fast drops that created gaps in her opponent’s court. She won the set in 11 minutes by a 21-18 margin.
In the following game, Maranon tried to employ powerful smashes, but the defence of her opponent was very strong. Selina was relying on the net shots followed by attacking clears and down the line smashes. In the first-half of the second game, Selina was leading with a good margin.
Maranon put up good resistance by playing positive badminton in the second set, but her effort was not enough to stop the winning run of her opponent. Selina grabbed the game with a 21-15 difference in just 9 minutes. The 20-minute match was won by Selina by a 21-18 and 21-15 margin.
