Angelo Mathews and Sri Lanka fined for slow over-rate in fifth ODI against India – Cricket News Update

Mathews, who was standing in for injured Mahela Jayawardene, has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee, while the rest of the team was fined 10 per cent, by the match referee Chris Broad, after they were found to be one over short
when allowances were taken into consideration.
According to International Cricket Council’s code of conduct, a captain is fined 20 per cent of his match fee for every over his side fails to bowl in the allotted time, and the rest of the team is fined half of that. Furthermore, one
more minor over-rate offence for Angelo Mathews in the One Day Internationals played as captain over the next 12 month, would earn him one-match suspension. It may be noted here that this was Angelo Mathews’ first ever international match as captain.
The fine on the Sri Lankan players was imposed after a full disciplinary hearing with the match-referee, a former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and his men were fined the
same proportions of their match fees for slow over-rate in the series opener, in Hambantota, last month.
