http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AD-Mathews-c913, the Sri Lankan all-rounder, said that despite recording an impressive victory during the second One Day International (ODI), the hosts cannot afford to be complacent against a strong Indian side.
The Sri Lankans will head into the third ODI at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on a high note after beating the Men in Blue comprehensively by nine wickets at Hambantota, levelling the five-match series 1-1.
Mathews, along with Thisara Perera, rattled a strong Indian batting lineup, courtesy a brilliant bowling display which limited the visitors to 138, ensuring that the Islanders made an impressive comeback after losing the opening match.
The right-arm bowler was pleased with his contribution, where he picked up 3 for 14, including the important scalps of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028.  He however, added that the team must carry on with the same momentum for the remaining games.
“Even though it was a convincing victory the other day and we were really good in all three departments, we can't relax at any given time, especially against the Indians, because they can come back hard at us,” Mathews said during a pre-match press conference.
Mathews’ injury-prone career has been a major worry for the management, who considers him as a long term replacement for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397. After a troublesome early phase of the year, where he missed the Asia Cup, the 25-year-old has shown greater consistency
in his fitness levels over the past month or so.
“I've always enjoyed bowling as much as I can. I had a few issues with injuries in the past, but in the recent past I've been bowling pretty well and my fitness is pretty good. I'm hoping to continue in the same form as long as possible,” the 25-year-old
said.
The Islanders are recently enjoying a successful run after beating a strong http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 side in both Test and ODI series, and are mostly banking on their talented all-rounders, Mathews and Perera, both of whom have given some scintillating performances.
The young Sri Lankan vice-captain further hailed the impact of his teammate, Perera.  
“We both [serve] as all-rounders in the team. We enjoy each other's company and we help each other a lot,” Mathews further added.
