Angelo Mathews, the Sri Lankan skipper, is satisfied with his team’s recent performances in international cricket and wants the younger lot of players to learn from the seniors like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779 and Mahela Jayawardene.
Sri Lankan cricket is presently going through a transition period, with many young players coming through the ranks of domestic cricket and making an effort to establish themselves at the highest stage of the game. On top of that, the islanders presently
have a very young captain in shape of Mathews.

“We've done well in patches in the last two months, and when we did that it was the seniors that stepped up - guys like Kumar Sangakkara and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397.” Mathews said. “They've carried a lot of the burden and we need that experience in the side but
what the youngsters need to do is look at how those guys prepare and how they focus.”
The Sri Lankan captain understands that achieving the heights of Sangakkara and Jayawardene are going to be quite tough for the young players but he feels that anything can be achieved through hard work.
“We need to have that mindset where you think you can be the next Mahela and think you can be the next Kumar. It comes with experience and a lot of hard work,” he added.
Sri Lanka’s next assignment in international cricket is the limited-overs series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 at home, which includes five One Day Internationals (ODI) and three T20 Internationals. The first ODI is going to be played on Saturday; however, Mathews
is suspended for the first two matches of the series.
