The Granata President has stated that the club plans on keeping a tight hold of their prized player, and has stated that the defender is motivated to perform at his current outfit.
Urbano Cairo has expressed his desire to keep their highly-rated Angelo Ogbonna, while acknowledging the interest that the defender has received from all around http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926.
The centre-back was included in Cesare Prandelli’s final squad for Euro 2012, and is being considered as one of the most promising defensive talents in all of country.
The Granata defender has attracted interest from clubs all over Italia, but the Toro is determined to keep hold of their star player in order to keep their defensive strength intact.
The Stadio Olimpico outfit had a brilliant last season in Serie B, and their decision to retain the defender has a lot to do with their promotion to Italy’s top flight.
Torino chief was talking to an interview with Tuttosport, and revealed his desire to keep hold of their in-demand centre-back.
Cairo explicitly stated that Ogbonna is completely off the market at the moment, as the club wants to build their next year’s Serie A campaign around the defender.
The President went on to reveal that the Toro defender has recently extended his contract with the outfit, and despite the interest from several clubs he will not sell the contract to any other outfit.
While talking to Tuttosport, the 24-year-old said:
“Ogbonna is staying with Torino. That is final. The perfect words to describe Ogbonna would be: not for sale. We have just renewed his contract. I know that so many are interested in him, we especially value him.”
The defender comes from a Nigerian descent, and already made three appearances for Italy at the international stage.
Cairo went on to stress that the desire to strike a long-term relationship is mutual, and stated that Ogbonna is motivated to keep up his performances with the team in the upcoming season.
“We need him too and the beauty is that Angelo is motivated and intending to have another great season with us.” He added.
