Angelo Que remains in contention at the Iskandar Johor Open
Angelo Que of Philippines carded a two-under par 70, in the delayed second round of the Iskandar Johor Open, to take the share of the sixth position, on Saturday, December 15, 2012.
A total of 23 players still had to complete their second rounds, prior to the inclement weather forced the game to be suspended.
The officials are now considering shortening the event to 54 holes, because of too many suspended sessions in the tournament so far.
The three-time Asian Tour winner opened his campaign in Malaysia by carding a five-under par 67 in the first round.
He then kept the momentum going into the second round, and carded five birdies, while losing three shots, to accumulate a two-round total of a seven-under par 137.
The highlight of his performance included a run of four birdies in a row, starting from the fourth hole.
At the end of his second round, he found himself settled three strokes behind the pace set by Daniel Chopra of Sweden, at a 10-under par 134.
Talking to the Asian Tour’s official website, he expressed his disappointment in making a poor start to his second-round campaign – he conceded a double bogey on the 11th hole, his second.
In the meantime, he also said that he was pleased to make a strong comeback in the final moments of his round.
“In Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, you always expect the weather to be like this. You just take it and go with it,” Que said. “I started really bad and wasn’t holing any putts although I birdied the first hole. Luckily I kept my composure and found a way to make birdies. Luckily I was able to birdie four out of the six holes”.
Que, who currently holds the 26th position in the Asian Tour Order of Merit, now plans to remain consistent in the remaining portion of the event, in a bid to make a final move in the standings.
“Every shot counts in every tournament especially in such a big event like this. I want to move higher on the Order of Merit and make every shot count,” he said.
