Agnes Szavay will miss out the French Open next week – Tennis News
Hungarian tennis professional, Agnes Szavay, enters the list of players who have withdrawn from the upcoming Grand Slam tournament, the Roland Garros French Open. She didn’t state any particular reason for her withdrawal but mentioned
that some personal commitments were mixing up with the schedules of the tournament so she had to pull out of the contest.
She just played one professional encounter this year in the qualifiers of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix tournament in Stuttgart. Former world number 13 hasn’t been seen in action throughout the season apart from that match and
it seems like she is taking some time off from the professional career to accomplish some personal commitments.
Szavay is just 23-year-old and there is still a lot of left in her career. She has ample time to climb up to her career-high ranking and probably improve that but for that she needs to practice rigorously and contest tournaments
on regular intervals to stay in touch.
Her best seasons were registered in 2008 and 2009 when she had an emphatic record of 59-14 and 29-26 respectively. May 2008 was the last time when she was seen amongst the Top-20 players in the world but her follow-up seasons didn’t
allow her to sustain her ranking.
She just played 10 matches in 2011 and has just contested one so far this year. Probably, the time will come when she will make a proper comeback to the tennis circuit and review her career goals.
At the moment she is now where amongst the Top-500 players in the world but it won’t take a lot of time for her to recover her place because she has the ability to stun anyone on her day. She was stunning three years back and no
one thought that they will not see her in action for almost two straight years. She was cruising along but her fortune took a turn and everything faded away in quick succession.
Other big names that will miss out this year’s French Open tournament include the likes of the Slovak tennis icon, Daniela Hantuchova, Swiss superstar, Timea Bacsinszky, and the 15th ranked German, Andrea Petkovic.
