I was wondering is it true the bigger the angle you have on a golf club would it give the golf ball the best horizontal velocity?

  1. The more loft (angle) the higher trajectory you will get out of the ball.

So a driver that has 10.5* loft will produce a lower to the ground shot than a 60* Lob wedge.

So you need to switch your thinking up and you'll be all good!

  2. No, the opposite is true.

Example:  A typical driver has a small angle (approx 10 degrees) and causes the ball to fly at a low flight path (more horizontal)

A wedge has a large angle (approx 56 degrees) and causes a high, arcing flight path (more vertical)
