  1. You might write about Anglo-saxon respect for law.  Despite the fact that they were savage to their enemies, the Angles, Saxons and Jutes all had a very strict sense of legality.  Under what became known as common law every individual had a solid idea of his or her rights, duties, and privileges based on his or her social class.  It was simple enough for the unlettered (read EVERYONE), and yet had lots of specifics.  Even thralls (slaves) had particular rights which could not be infringed by a master, and could actually save money to buy freedom over time.  When the Normans conquered England they carried a Papal banner because one of the reasons for invading was to eliminate slavery (thralldom).  Unfortunately for the Anglo-saxons the Norman version of feudalism gave fewer rights to serfs than existed for thralls, and it caused all sorts of problems.  The Anglo-saxons didn't cotton to the sort of arbitrary 'justice' that Normans meted out.  More than a century later Henry II reinstated common law and it is the basis for our own legal system.

  2. why don't you do your own research.
