Rovio’s second instalment in the bird-slingshot-ing series’ downloads lives up to the title as the game’s downloads launch into orbit!
If one has a smart phone with Android or iOS, then chances are that that person has played Angry Birds. If a person has an iPad then chances are that he or she has played Angry Birds. If a person has a video game console, a tab or a web browser, then chances
are that he or she has played Angry Birds.
In short, the game has been downloaded almost a million times, which means that if you live on Planet Earth, then you have played Angry Birds. If one hasn’t then he is either living under rock or has come into contact with the phenomenon that is Angry Birds
at some point in his life.
The fact that the latest instalment in the Angry Birds franchise was downloaded over 10-million times within three days of its release, meaning that essentially it was ‘sold’ more times than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was during the same time.
The news broke via Angry Birds official Twitter feed (@AngryBirds) which announced, “10-million Angry Birds Space downloads in less than 3 days! Thanks to our fans, stay tuned for more! #angrybirdsspace.”
How much the number of downloads have swelled since then is anyone’s guess but one can imagine the figure to be rather high.
Angry Birds Space plays around with the gravity and physics of the series by removing or tweaking the former at times, while updating the physics engine to work in tandem with flinging birds at green pigs in outer space.
The game adds in a number of new kinds of birds to be thrown at the evil green mammals, with our favourite being the bird that freezes whatever it comes into contact with.
There are a total of 60 levels on offer in the game at the moment though more can be purchased and one can expect even more to be released as Downloaded Content in the weeks and months to come.
All in all, it looks as if Angry Birds Space picked up right where the previous game left off.
