Anibal Sanchez and Wade LeBlanc stiffen competition in Miami Marlins rotation - MLB Update
Odds are favouring Miami Marlins heavily for the season as they continue their dominance in Grapefruit League. Largely helped by their pitchers in seven games that they have won, addition of Anibal Sanchez comes as an icing on the cake. Reported earlier
in the training as struggling badly with his shoulders, in his stupendous outing against Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, he seems to have shredded all the concerns.
Adding to club’s prospects, Wade LeBlanc, another pitcher is going through an amazing time at Spring Training as he remains scoreless in his three games so far.
While their resurgence has comforted manager Ozzie Guillen in many ways, bigger issues he is going to respond are how he will galvanise an already packed rotation in a way that he gets to best results.
After all, their pitching department includes names like Heath Bell, Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson and Carlos Zambrano. All of them possess equally impressive credentials to fill important spots during the regular season.
Look at Carlos Zambrano, who has just finished horrifying Atlanta Braves’ batters the other day with his 97 mph fastballs. Along with this, his record of having made 1542 strike-outs in his career explains why Marlins will need him in the season.
Keep his record in correspondence with that of Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson, both of who maintain 1396 strike-outs and ERA of 2.98 respectively and one will understand why Guillen will have his managerial abilities tested the most in the season.
The fact that he is extremely impressed by LeBlanc, a player who is known as an obvious starter for any side either in Minor League or in Major League; it will be interesting to see where he will be sent in the case of Miami Marlins.
“If spring training had a Cy Young, he might be the one,” Ozzie Guillen said. “He’s the best pitcher we’ve had in spring training so far. The way he’s pitched, he’ll be somewhere. He’s making it tough. He continues to pitch like that, it’s a good headache
to have.”
So far in the training at least their pitchers have not let them down much and if Marlins by the start of season start to see their batters stepping up as well, they will certainly be a serious contender in the season.
