Anibal Sanchez re-signs with Detroit Tigers – MLB Update
Anibal Sanchez finally gets it done officially. The Detroit Tigers 2012 Major League Baseball season shining star Anibal Sanchez has given a new five-year $80 million deal.
The deal now has been confirmed which earlier was already finalised by both sides. On Friday, it was revealed in the media that free agent Anibal Sanchez has re-signed by the Tigers but it was never official then.
Now multiple sources have been reported that Sanchez will be playing again for the Tigers in the next potential five seasons. The Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski has also confirmed this deal.
‘‘He was big for us in the playoffs, I just wish we scored a couple more runs for him and for our team, He’s a big-time pitcher,” Tigers catcher Alex Avila said of Anibal Sanchez.
He added with more detail, “He's definitely a big-time pitcher, A top-of-the-line pitcher.”
"I'm like everyone else, I'm not at liberty to discuss anything," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said during a brief phone conversation.
Sanchez showed good and consistent performances during the 2012 Major League Baseball season and gave confidence to Tigers to re-sign him for next couple of years. He went with 3.86 ERA along with 9-13win-loss, 167 strikeouts and 1.27 WHIP.
"I am pumped, With Torii and with Anibal coming back, we're looking pretty good. We were going to be good again, regardless, but it makes already having a good team even better, obviously," Avila told The Detroit News over the phone from his home in South Florida and explained about Sanchez.
Cubs starting pitcher Matt Garza went on Twitter, writing about Sanchez, "I'm at the edge of my seat also with the Sanchez supposed deal."
Overall he performed with quite consistency and never showed any loop holes in his game. The Tigers were not only impressed by his last season’s performance but in this offseason, they have looked deep into his overall career performances.
His career ERA of 3.75 along with 48-51 win-loss, 733 strikeouts and 1.35 WHIP also shows his six years hard work in the biggest baseball league in the world.
