Anibal Sanchez shows optimism to remain in Detroit Tigers – MLB Update
The Detroit Tigers were quite impressed to watch Anibal Sanchez play like a role player in the recent past Major League Baseball season. Sanchez finished the season on a high note and achieved good numbers. He performed with a big heart and did not show any loop holes in his offensive game.
He finished with consistent numbers of 3.86 ERA along with 9-13 win-loss, 167 strikeouts and 1.27 WHIP. Overall his career 3.75 ERA along 48-51 win-loss, 733 strikeouts and 1.35 WHIP also makes him a good role player in the league.
Looking at his past season’s performance and overall his career performances, the Tigers agreed to re-sign Sanchez gave him a new multiyear deal.
Sanchez was also recently introduced in a press conference at the Tiger Club at Comerica Park in Detroit and started a new beginning with the Tigers.
"Thank you, Mr. Ilitch, to let it happen," Sanchez said after letting his signature dot a deal that could keep the 28-year-old right-hander in Detroit through 2018.
"I know the players, the front office; we almost get the ring, Now I have a pretty good team. We'll (bring) the ring to the city," he added, referring to the four-game tumble to the Giants in the World Series.
Later Tigers President and General Manager DaveDombrowski said as he, Sanchez, and Sanchez's agent, Gene Mato, sat at a dais inside the Tiger Club, "It's a risk, Pitching is a risky business. That's just the way it is. From a club perspective, we would prefer a shorter window. There are things that can happen.”
Tigers pitching coach Jeff Jones also said for Anibal Sanchez, “He's kind of unique, He has quality stuff. He can be overpowering. But he also does a lot of pitching. He's comfortable throwing breaking stuff when he's behind. And he's got a good change-up.”
Sanchez is a highly talented individual and knows his game. He performed well in the last Major League Baseball season and now also looking forward his new beginning with the Tigers. Before coming into the Tigers in 2012, he played almost his peak years in the Miami Marlin.
