  1. st. johns wort is known for causing headaches for the users. i am one of them. i suffer from anxiety also, but i take ativan and wellbutrin for it. i am currently seeking natural ways too.

  2. A great way is to practice present moment awareness by doing meditation and yoga. As weird as it sounds it lets your mind free of things that happened in the past or things you think might happen in the future. Look at it this way, whatever you are doing is not working so change your daily actions to better healthier choices. With your attention on the positive choices you might find your anxiety fade away. Good luck..

  3. Valerian root pills help me relax. St johns wort didnt work for me but maybe i wasnt taking enough.. lemon balm relaxes also

  4. Over the past 7 years I have been gradually eating more healthfully, and I have found that after almost completely eliminating added sugar from the foods I eat, that when I do eat sugar now, I immediately (within 24 hours) become overwhelmed with anxious thoughts. As you sort through different options, keep my experience in mind. I hope it helps!

  5. I liked saint john's wort for anxiety.  It works wonders on improving mood and ridding yourself of anxiety (over the course of 2-4 weeks).  Unfortunately, I was taking it as an ADD supplement with L-Tyrosine, and it just compounded the problems due to my lack of knowledge with different types of attention deficits.

What I thought worked pretty good, at least on a fast-acting and temporary basis, was a combination of L-Carnitine and B-100 complex.  The B Vitamins took the edge off of stress while the L-Carnitine is a stimulant and temporary anti-depressant.  Just a heads up, you'll have to cycle off L-Carnitine one week out of every month to keep its effectiveness.

I found a couple supplements you may be interested in...

GABA: amino acid acts as neurotransmitter

    Valerian Root: Herbal sedative.

    L-theanine: found in green tea

    Passion Flower: Contains many flavonoids.

    Chamomile: Oh it's nice.

Eleuthero: Not recommended for long periods of time.

Gotu Cola: Not sure if it is more of a sedative or stimulant...

Out of that list, I liked Eleuthero and Chamomile the best.  You can find them both in celestial seasoning's "Tension Tamer" tea which tastes absolutely amazing (assuming you like peppermint).

  6. Meditation, vigrous exercise, yoga, ect.

  7. The natural medicine that's worked great for me is called Panicyl.  It's a formula of herbs and vitamins including Ashwaganda.

I've heard that Kava Kava is good too but is linked with liver problems so beware of that one.
