Anil Kumble retires from all forms of cricket
Former Indian captain and leading Test wicket-taker for India http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anil-Kumble-c44737 announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Kumble represented the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the previous three editions of the Indian Premiere League (IPL).
He was the captain of the RCB team in 2009 and 2010. This year, he was left out for auction by the RCB team and was amongst the players who were not retained by the team for the season four of IPL.
The IPL auction is scheduled to take place on the 9th and 10th January. Kumble has withdrawn his name from the auction saying that he wants to look after his business and other cricket administration activities.
He said, “I wish to withdraw from the players auction for IPL 4 scheduled for the 8th and 9th of January 2011 in Bangalore. I have enjoyed my stint at the IPL so far and thank all concerned for the support extended.”
Kumble led his team to the final of the second edition of IPL in 2009 and then followed with a third place finish in the third edition of the tournament in 2010. He also helped his team to qualify for the Champions League Twenty20 tournament.
In all the three editions of IPL, Kumble took 45 wickets overall and proved that he was a worthy bowler in the shortest version of the game as well just like the Test and ODI cricket.
Kumble represented http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 when he took ten wickets in one innings, although he would consider himself lucky and favored by the umpire; since almost half the decisions made
by the umpire were flawed. He also has a Test match century to his name against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
The decision against retaining Kumble by RCB for the fourth season of IPL may have led Kumble to take this decision. He has represented the state and led them to many victories and not being retained must have been very disappointing for the former Indian
captain.
Kumble was always a dangerous bowler in India as he took 350 Test wickets in his country. His services will be missed by the IPL and the cricket lovers in India.
