Anil Kumble tips Chennai favourites for IPL-V title – Cricket News Update
Legendary Indian leg-spinner, Anil Kumble, on Sunday backed defending champions Chennai Super Kings to lift the IPL trophy for a third time in a row.
The grand finale of the fifth edition of the lucrative Indian Premier League will see the two time IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings, locking horns with Kings Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders at the former’s home ground, MA Chidambaram
Stadium, Chepauk, today, May 27, 2012.
The former Indian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anil-Kumble-c44737, feels Super Kings have the necessary fire power to get past the Knight Riders and complete the hat-trick of IPL titles.
“They are a champion side. Look at the individuals in the team. They have a great battery of international cricketers. All of them have a lot of experience,” said Kumble while speaking to the media reporters ahead of the IPL-V final.
Dhoni-led Super Kings got off to an unimpressive start this season winning just four of their initial ten games. With eight wins in the league stage, the Yellow Brigade earned a lucky ticket to the final fours after Deccan Chargers
clinched upset wins against Royal Challengers Bangalore and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils to make it
to the tournament final where they will play a resurgent KKR side.
Kumble, who is the mentor of the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, agreed that Chennai did not get off to an impressive start but he takes heart from their startling performance in the last two games.
“Yes, they were scratchy in the group stages but they have come back strongly. RCB, though, did them a favour [by losing to Deccan Chargers]. And then in the playoffs, they literally bulldozed Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils,”
said the 41-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Karnataka-c801 leg-spinner.
Kumble, however, warned the defending champions against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 off-spinner Sunil Narine, who has been KKR’s trump card this season.
“Kolkata’s bowling is really good, thanks to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869, the mystery bowler,” said the former Indian skipper. “He ties up one end, that helps other bowlers. He is one key figure in this match. A lot rides on how he fares,” he added further.
