A girl I know has some baby hairless rats, she adopted a guinea pig and found out it had Pasteurella so she took the rats to the vet since they were exposed to the guinea pig and they had to get two shots of penicillin a day. The girl says they are supposibly healthy now, but i'm scared to bring them home and expose them to my cats and dog. Is Pasteurella just found in rodents or can it get to cats and dogs? And if it can do you think it's safe to bring them home???

  1. Don't get them if you're that concerned, or speak to her or a qualified vet about it to reassure yourself. Some six year old on here going 'IT'S FINE GET THE RATS' means nothing. h**l, even me at eighteen and working in a pet store saying it's fine- which I think it is, if she took them to the vets and they got treatment, they'll be fine now- means nothing to you if you're already this worried.
