Animal Activists?

Question

How do you become one? i want to be this when I grow up. Its pretty much my passion and i want to work in the LA area. How do you work for PETA as an animal activist and what are the requirements? can you help me please? thanks :)

I personally despise PETA.  They are eco-terrorists.  Try a local cause or even start your own.  I think shelters and farm sanctuaries are the best.

Go to peta.org for more information and disregard negative remarks from other people about being concerned about the welfare of animals. Humans are suppose to be care takers of the earth and that includes animals, they have served us so well and have sacrificed so much to make life better for us. It is only right that we should treat them with respect and help them when they need it. In fact animals only need help because of human interference.

In the short term try joining your local vegetarian society and training to become an activist by those who participate in outreach.  If you don't have a veg society in your city than try forming one by finding people with common interest on Meet-up.com.  A great form of activism during the summer is the Great American Meet-Out. You throw a big meat-free cookout in a city park or something.  Obcourse it has to be authorized by the city. You'll also want to charge a fair price for the tofu dogs, veggie burgers, veggie kebobs, etc.

Another great option is the adopt a college program.  Once you've found  some veggies to team with you you can go to campuses and share your knowlege with others willing to listen.

In the long term you might want to go into animal law in college.  That way you can make a career out of animal protection, reform, and maybe even defending a

animal rights activist legally.  Other options include vegetarian resturanteuring,or working at a farm sanctuary for rescued animals. Good Luck.

PETA also has job openings but you probably need to be at least 18 years old to work there.
