Hello my name is Justin and I am a student at SUNY Oswego, I am in my third year and am working on my BS in Zoology. I was wondering what careers there are out there that are decent paying and give me the chance to work with animals! I know there is zookeeping but they dont make much. I need something to support a family some time! If anyone has any great suggestions please let me know!

  1. Heres a good site that provides ALOT of animal careers.

I think Vets though make alright money. They make up tp 80k or even in the 100k range. But you have to work for it, like the school and stuff. Zoology sounds like fun though or you could get another job off to the side or something.

  2. Hey Justin :)

Do you feel like more schooling? You could do vet school, or a vet nursing degree if you're interested in the medical side of things too - then you could be/assist a zoo vet.

You could also research doing some rehabilitation work overseas (often volunteer, but they provide meals + board) until you figure out what you want to do, because at least this will give you experience.

The more experience you get - the more opportunities you will probably have in the future.

    Good luck

  4. You might want to work as a biologist, wildlife biologist etc. for a government agency (US Fish and Wildlife, etc), a non-profit organization, or an environmental consultant firm (they tend to pay more).  You can also look for work through a lab, or univeristy.

  5. Did you try searching for that on here?  That probably sounds like useless advice, but the question comes up pretty frequently and there's probably some good resources in previous answers in addition to the other answers you get.
