I am interested in being an animal cop, you know, like what they do on Animal Planet and stuff. I would love to help like that.

1) What kind of education do you need for it? Can you or do you have to go to college for this profession?

2) And do you HAVE to do the operations on the animals, or can you just do the rescuing?

  1. Animal cops are police officers that are assigned to the ASPCA and such.  They usually have bachelor's degrees, then they go through the police academy and get assigned to that dept.  They are not veterinary doctors.  They don't perform surgeries.

  2. Hi I work at the SPCA Houston as a Animal Care Tech and Work with the Animal Cops there...

It helps to have an associate degree..But the SPCA Houston has a training program here.

We have a Hospital in the shelter with Vets and Vet techs.. I am in school to become a vet tech at the moment. The cops do not and are not authorized to to any medical procedures the just investigate and save animals from horrible circumstances and people.

I suggest volunteering at your local shelter show your dedication it isn't as simple as it seems on tv you can easily get compassion fatigue.. If you jump into it..
