On the surface Animal Farm is a simple fable, but Orwell’s purpose is much more serious than it would seem at first glance. Discuss how Orwell tries to avert disaster through his allegory.

Could you also put this in a simpler form? PLEASE SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROWROW

  1. Breathe...relax.      The question is referring to the fact that Orwell used a seemingly simple story to show the cruelties and hypocrisies of the Communist party in Russia.    He wanted to show how evil communist oppression was, so he developed a "simple fable" to make his point clear.   We know that the characters in the story were meant to represent real people (Stalin and his regime).  By making it into a simple story using animals to represent people, he was able to really get his point across.  Even if the reader is unaware of the communist system in the Soviet Union that Orwell was talking about, he could still understand the message about the evils of a society like the ones the pigs created (an oppressive communist state).

  2. I don't remember all of the details, but I was told it was about the Russian Revolution...hope that helps...
