Animal Kingdom backed at odds of 7-4 for Preakness Stakes: Horse Racing
The Preakness Stakes, which is the second leg of the prestigious Triple Crown, is scheduled to take place on the May 21, Saturday, at the Pimlico racecourse. The hot favourite contender for this race, with the British bookmakers and sponsors in particular, is the racehorse Animal Kingdom. He is being backed at odds of 7-4 for the aforementioned race.
The reason why Animal Kingdom is dominating the Preakness market is the fact that if it manages to win this race, he will be named as the first winner of the Triple Crown races since the year 1978, in which Affirmed was presented with this title. The colt trains under the care of the famed trainer, Graham Motion.
There is thus a good deal of pressure on the trainer who is constantly working on the training of his colt. It has been reported that he started with his training sessions on Thursday at the base of Graham Motion, which is known as the Fair Hill Training Center in Maryland. It has been revealed that on his first day of training, Animal Kingdom jogged a mile and half under David Nava, who is the exercise rider.
When the excited trainer was approached by the correspondents regarding the development of the racehorse before the mega event, he was reported as saying, “I feel more relaxed about everything – the horse is great, he’s not worried about anything.”
Graham also revealed that Animal Kingdom will be training at Fair Hill till Friday, May 20.
Graham Motion further went on to say, “He seems to be travelling well, which is always a concern coming out of a race like that. He seems to be taking everything in stride and that’s a big deal.
Graham Motion also expressed his level excitement for the Preakness Stakes and that too heading for it with a Derby winner. The pleased trainer said that he will be enjoying the victory at Derby this week and then start worrying about the preparations for the Preakness Stakes next week.
