Animal Kingdom odds-on favourite for Queen Anne Stakes – Horseracing news
Animal Kingdom is expected to dominate the proceedings in the Queen Anne Stakes, as no one else seems to be in a position to match his speed and stamina in the Group 1 encounter.
The five-year-old is definitely going to be cut further in betting before the race day, as he is attracting a lot of bets from all over the world.
According to Coral spokesman Simon Clare, “Over the last 48 hours the support for Animal Kingdom has been relentless including several four-figure bets and it now looks certain that the Graham Motion-trained runner will emulate last year’s star, Frankel,
by starting odds-on for the Queen Anne Stakes.”
Although the American stallion does not have an outstanding record like Frankel, yet his performances have been pretty much consistent and he is amongst the best of the modern era. He has maintained a decent winning percentage and there was only one occasion
in his career, when he failed to make it to the top-three.
Overall, Animal Kingdom has appeared in 11 races, winning five of them whereas secured the runner up spot on the same number of times. This goes onto show why he is being backed to triumph in the Queen Anne Stakes.
The talented runner took part in a training session recently and everything went according to plan for him. The entire camp was pleased to see his fitness and rhythm and his trainer was confident of a very good result.
However, the ground conditions might become an issue for the favourite horse, as rain is forecast this weekend.
Clerk of the Ascot course Chris Stickels is keeping a close eye on the conditions and said, “It's a mixture of good and good to firm. We've watered today, but won't be watering tomorrow. Though there is no significant rain forecast for the next 48 hours,
heavy showers are possible towards the end of the weekend and we will review the updated forecasts tomorrow.”
If the going becomes soft or heavy on race day, this will put some pressure on Animal Kingdom. His fans will be hoping that everything goes well for him, but his opponents will be seeing the mixed weather conditions as an opportunity to cause an upset.
