I personally think eating meat is wrong and brings about bad karma. Yet sadly I still eat it. Anyways in no way am I against animal rights but I am just curious. Why are animals allowed to eat other animals but humans aren't?

Also how do you start a healthy vegetarian diet with all of the daily servings that a human requires. 20 POINTS PEOPLE

  1. i think its more of the way humans TREAT animals before we eat them. You don't see animals in the wild caging up their prey their whole lives while they suffer long painful deaths, do you? For example, PETA members petition agianst KFC because of their factories where the chickens are treated like c**p. They are fed food that makes them so heavy, they can't support their own weight and break their legs. They live in tight quarters where they will never be able to stretch their wings. Also, there have been reports that the workers brutally tortue chickens and use their blood to graffiti the walls or play horrible games like soccer. It's because humans treat animals like c**p that many ppl are for animal rights. And plus, a lot of animals NEED meat to survive while humans can live perfectly fine without it. I also think another reason is because animals eat what they need to, and no more. Humans take animals for food, clothing, beauty products, and for many other things that you dont need. Other animals don't walk around in fur coats either. I eat meat also even though i think its wrong and i plan on being a vegetarian as soon as i move out of my house. PETA believes that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for our entertainment, or abuse in any way.

    DIET:

Include high-fiber foods in your diet. Whole-wheat bread, brown rice, oats, flax seeds, and vegetables supply fiber, which helps lower cholesterol.

Avoid dairy products; they contain cholesterol and saturated fats. Calcium can be obtained from beans, broccoli, sesame seeds, and green, leafy vegetables.

  2. Because the actions of others should never be the basis of a moral argument.

As for the second part, I (a vegan) do that by taking vitamin/calcium supplements and cooking a variety of foods. It really isn't that hard.

  3. Firstly I think that's because of the whole food chain thing but i don't see why they can't just eat normal food i guess that they need certain things in their diet. I'm 16 and i have been a vegetarian since i was 11 and i have found that eating a ordinary diet and replacing the meat with other protein sources such as meat analogues ( quorn etc.) seems to keep me healthy and also I always make sure that i eat a lot of green vegetables to replace the iron that I don't get from red meat. You should really go for it, i often get told it's not healthy but as long as you replace the vitamins that you would normally get from meat you'll be fine. this website is helpful i used it to learn how to keep healthy http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vegetar...

  4. I'm so tired of this question.  It implies that vegetarians are all stupid and we haven't even considered the most basic questions of nature, ethics, and morals.

No one is saying humans aren't "allowed" to eat other animals, but we certainly get to choose not to.  No one forces me to go to the gym either, but I do it.  It makes me healthier.  It will improve the quality of my life.

Knowing what I know about how meat is produced in this country, I cannot participate with a clear conscience, so I choose not to.

  5. Animals have to eat other animals.  Humans are omnivores and can meet all of their nutritional needs through eating a vegetarian diet.

I became vegan because of the way animals are treated in the meat, milk, and egg industry.  www.meat.org illustrates my reasoning.

try.veg.com, goveg.com, and peta.org all have fantastic vegetarian info.  You can even get a free vegetarian starter kit from PETA.

    Also, it 10 points...not 20.

  6. Hello,

This is a common argument used by meat-eaters but when broken down it is easy to see that it is just silly. First of all, this is Appeal to Nature, a logical fallacy, but ignoring that, once could ask the same question about many other things. Why are animals allowed to kill other members of their own species but humans aren't? Why are animals allowed to rape one another but humans aren't? Why are animals allowed to force one another off their property but humans aren't? Looking at it this way, it is easy to see why that argument is really just irrelevant. Of course one would not suggest making it legal for humans to do all of these horrible things, but at the same time we cannot really stop it from happening between other animals.

Starting a healthy vegetarian diet is easy! Just eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, beans, and rice. I personally don't care for nuts (they hurt my stomach) but if they work for you they can be a great food. You really don't even need to worry about getting your daily serving of various nutrients as most vegetarians get it naturally without even trying. It is the meat eaters who generally are not that healthy.

Good luck on your journey to vegetarianism and congratulations on making an improvement for your health, the environment, and the animals! By going vegetarian, you are saving 500 animals a year and having fun doing it. :)
