So apparently there are acres but what is an acre in the game? Like how much space is an acre? I think you have to know to get a perfect town to get the golden watering can.

Not acres. ACORNS. You get ACORNS at the ACORN FEST.

Yeah, you have to have a perfect town for 16 days in a row to get the golden can.

An acre is 16 by 16 square game tiles. You have 16 acres in your town, arranged 4 by 4. You need to put about 15 trees in each acre, and have flowers dispersed everywhere. 10 isn't enough trees, and 17 is too many, from my experience. Start by marking off acres in the most convenient corner of your map, by using patterns from your patterns pocket. That's what I did. It takes a while to get everything perfect, like I still don't have the golden watering can.
