Animal noises at night??

Question

i know theres crickets that make noises but i hear something louder and almost sounds like a knocking sort of constant knocking like a woodpecker would make on a hollow tree is what it sounds like but this is in the dead of night anybody have any idea what it might be or what website might help?? i live in the south florida area if that helps any.. im very curious .. thankx

OH ITS PROBABLY A CICADA!

some of these insects take 17 years to grow and they die in a month!!

There are no nocturnal woodpeckers.

It's probably a tree frog. There are even night geckos that make a croaky sound.

I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, and heard those things all the time.
