Question:

Animal "renting" services?

I live in San Diego and I'm not allowed to own a dog because of the lease I'm in, but would really like to find a place where they let people come and volunteer their time or let you take them out for walks/runs. Does anyone know of the name of a service like this? Any help would be really appreciated.

  1. While I can't help you out with the names of any specific places to look, I'd recommend you start with asking at vet's offices and animal kennels. Both should jump at the chance to get volunteer help to entertain and exercise stored animals.

If you want to try earning a few bucks though, set yourself up as a small pet-sitting business ... look after people's pets while they are away. The pet can remain in the familiar comfort of its own home and you can charge less to come in, walk and feed it than it would cost the owner to house the pet at a kennel.

  2. Try your local humane society, or find an elderly neighbor who could benefit from your services
