Animal rights and the upcoming election?

Question

Senator and 2008 Presidential Candidate Barack Obama has publicly endorsed support for animal rights "not only because I have a 9-year-old and 6-year-old who want a dog." he says. As a vegetarian and huuuge animal-lover, I think this is great! Will any fellow animal lovers vote for him because once the election rolls around? Do you think McCain would do anything to support our cause?

There are many reseaches and surveys evidenced that if the current uptrend is continued (considering other factors remained unchange) the vegetarian population worldwide would attain 42.8% by the year 2019 (and some even argue that this figure would be much higher). Nevertheless, the obama's publisity is more to the intellectual and ethical incentive by the way the world is leading to.

romeo.romeo7 - what are you doing in the vegetarian/vegan section of youtube? Is it THAT bad that some people happen to care about animals, and don't like the fact that they are being slaughtered so we can eat their flesh? Is that really that much of a predicament to you? Don't get me wrong, I like humans, including meat-eating humans. But I really can't stand it when people go onto a section that they clearly no nothing about and bag out people for believing in stuff.

I think Ralf Nader is vegetarian, or atleast he was one in the past. I haven't heard lately. The others all eat meat, so don't get your hopes up.

I am an Obama supporter and am happy to see you will be voting for him.  That being said, this is not a big issue for this election given the economy sucks, the war sucks, energy prices suck, we can't find bin Laden, etc.  Also, McCain has virtually no chance of winning the typical animal rights supporter anyway so he;s not likely to spend much time on this issue.

Well we vegans should have supported Dennis Kucinich (a fellow vegan) a bit more than we did. But yes I am endorsing Obama in this upcoming election, although I am anti-politician in general.

Romeo:so your admitting animals are pretty intelligent then if your saying they would have brainpower to think to kill us, and dont you think if the creature is that intelligent we shouldnt be eating them. and it would only want to kill us because we treat it so cruelly. and im not asking animals to be put on the same level as humans, im not saying go buy them a car and get them manicures. all i want is for people to treat them humanely, like not kill them unecessarily.

What You can do today....Is log into Humane Society .org.

They send me bills to sign electronically, and I have helped to pass laws; This makes me feel great.

I have signed against the dog trade, and the seal hunts.

I love helping animals in this way. It is fast... and it is free!!!!

Although they ask for donations at times.

Please pass this info. to other animal lovers.

That is definately a strong point and I hope that McCCain decides to help animals. I wish Barack would be more specific as to what he is going to do. I suport anyone who wants to help animals
