  1. Just call up there and ask them if they are in need of any more volunteers.

  2. Look in your local newspaper for help wanted or look online. It never hurts to visit the shelter as well and to go ask. When you go in to ask or are thinking of submitting a resume dress professionally.

  3. I would think that the best thing would go to the organization itself.  At least they could see that your actually intrested enough to go there not just be lazy and call.

  4. Walk in!  Smile, introduce yourself, and say, "Hi, I really appreciate the wonderful things you do for the animals in our community and I'd like to volunteer to help!"

Our volunteers must be 18 to sign out and walk the dogs, but otherwise we allow kids of 14 and up to pet/brush cats, clean cages, feed and water, pet/play with puppies, help with landscaping or outdoor maintenance, put out collection cans, make posters, stuff envelopes, attend the charity events as 'runners' or helpers, answer phones, etc, etc.

I am sure they will be delighted at your offer.  Do it in person, it makes all the difference.  Good luck and THANK YOU for wanting to help!
