My sister is 14, and she wants to volunteer working at an animal shelter, does she have to be over 16 to do this?

  1. It depends on the centre she wants to volunteer at - larger, more well known shelters won't accept anyone over the age of 16 for insurance purposes. Her best bet is to call or Email the centre and ask.

Perhaps she could try dog walking, or getting a short-term work experience placement? I know some schools do this when students are 15, but some veterinary practices will have work expo people in for a few weeks of unpaid work. Again, it all depends on the practice.
