Animals being vegetarians?

Question

so i was reading about all the harmful stuff in dog/cat food and i was wondering about feeding my dog meat. b/c i know a lady who would feed her dog like chicken necks and other foods such as fruits vegs..ect .dogs in the wild eat other animals. im a vegetarian and was wondering if it would be bad to feed my dog "some" meat since in the wild that is what he would eat.

Dogs can survive on a meat-free diet but it is not the best thing for them. Cats, on the other hand, cannot survive without meat.

I am a long-time dog owner and lover. I wouldn't dream of feeding my dogs a veg diet!

They need to eat good quality meat and veg and fruit.

Don't feed them on c**p 'Dog' food... It's full of preservatives, additives and all kinds of animals have suffered to feed your dog.

I am from India, the largest concentration of Lacto-vegetarians in the world. The dogs are given table-scraps. Yes dogs can live very happily on a lacto-vegetarian diet.

The cats are are different. Cats do need to eat meat. Milk helps. The cats in vegetarian homes basically live outdoors and hunt for rats fowl etc. to take care of their nutritional needs.

You can feed your cat with vegetarian food also.

Milk mixed with cooked egg and with little bit rice can be the main food for cat.

Other than that, they can hunt for rats by them self.

I really believe that dogs and cats (and all natural carnivores) should eat meat.  But, that means good quality meat, not just by-product junk.

On the other hand, I know a lot of people believe that if something can survive without meat, then there is no need for it to ever have it.  I agree with that to some extent; I believe humans are naturally built to be vegetarians, but dogs and cats are not.

I think they need to eat mostly meat in order to thrive.  Humans, on the other hand, should not eat meat.
