  1. When I attended high school in Manhattan back in the 1980s, I used to head to Forbidden Planet after class.  They got comics, manga, Japanime stuff, etc.  I loaded up on a lot of hard-to-find Macross, Mospeada, Gundam and Captain Harlock items from there (you can tell I liked the "mecha" stuff in Japanime).  I don't know if they still have as much Japanime stuff as they did back then, but I think it's worth a look:  http://www.fpnyc.com/

    Hope this helps!

  2. My friend, the only place that comes to mind when it comes to anime/manga merchandise is Jim Hanley's Universe Limited, located on 33rd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. The exact address is:

    4 W 33rd St

    New York, NY 10001

I hope this information is very helpful.

    Good luck

  4. Rockafeller center has an asian library and they have all anime and magazines of all that stuff, no toys though

  5. You would love Kinokuniya on 6th and 42nd, across from Bryant park.  It's a real chain of Japanese bookstores with a NY location.  All sorts of neat stuff that you can only find there.  Check it out!  Also, Midtown Comics on Lex and 46th has a pretty good selection.

  6. Image Anime on 30 st between 7th and 8th ave
