Question

to make an anime do u have to have a manga of it???

im just wondering since all the anime ive watched came from a manga series

No, not really. Most animes do come from popular manga series, but it can also come from video games. =)

The Galaxy Angel anime was adapted from a video game, along with the AIR anime.

no, but it's much more common. some very popular series, Neon Genesis Evangelion for example, came first. But, when a manga is successful, the producers know they will have an audience, then make the anime.

since the majority of anime does and is based off its manga counterpart- there is no other way to say this- but yes- most anime is based off of manga- other than that- video games, light novels [manga's little brother] and any other forms of media.

Well not necissarily. Usually an anime is adapted from a manga series, but sometimes it can be adapted from a video game (such as Kindom Hearts has a manga, but it was originally a video game). I think there are some anime out there that don't have a manga "counterpart" but there are very few.
