Anirban Lahiri and Adilson Da Silva share lead at Players Championship – Indian Golf Tour
The second round of the Aircel Professional Golfer Tour of India, Players Championship concluded Thursday at the par-72, Panchkula Golf Club. The experienced Anirban Lahiri improved his position on the score board and is tied for the lead with Brazilian
Adilson Da Silva after two rounds.
Lahiri was placed at the 24th spot on the leader board, as he started his second round. He looked in fine touch both with hitting and putting which helped him jump on top of the leader board. Lahiri posted a fantastic score of seven-under par,
65 for the second round to emerge as the leader.
The 23-year-old looked in great touch with his smooth putting on the greens. Luck was certainly in his favour, as he also made a few long par saving putts. He made eight birdies against two bogeys on his card. The only two lost strokes came on hole numbers
11 and 13. Lahiri added this to his first round score and has a total two day score of seven-under par, 137.
This season has been a great one for the youngster, as he already has a single win to his name. He also has had a couple of top-10 finishes. Lahiri has been playing on the Asian Tour and has loads of experience on his shoulders.
Silva managed to card a steady round of one-under par and shares the lead. He continued his first round momentum on the second day. Adilson had six birdies and five bogeys on his score card. He was disappointed with a bogey finish on the par-4,18th
and is hoping to further improve his play in the next two rounds.
Naman Dawar holds the third spot on the score board and is just one shot off the leaders. Dawar had a moderate round of one-under par, 71. He had six birdies, three bogeys and a disastrous double-bogey. It was the par-4, 9th where he dropped two
shots, as his approach shot to the green was not accurate.
As for the overnight leader Rashid Khan, he failed to produce brilliance in the second round. He looked like he was under immense pressure on the second day and posted a score of two-over par, 74. Khan had a superb first round of seven-under par, but could
not carry his form on the second day. He has a two round aggregate score of five-under par, 139 and shares the fourth spot with Harendra Gupta.
The third round of the championship will commence today and players like Gaganjeet Bhullar and Gaurav Ghei are expected to top the leader board. It will be interesting to watch all these players battle it out on the course for leading the tournament.
