Newcastle United midfielder and summer signing Vurnon Anita admits that the team needs to work harder if they wish to improve their deteriorating form in the league.
Newcastle have dropped down to 14th spot after a poor run of form. The Magpies have only won 1 in their last 6 games, and had gone on a losing streak of 4 games prior to the 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic.
From top 4 contenders, Newcastle may potentially become relegation battlers if their poor form continues. Manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew himself admitted that his team may face a fight to stay in the English top flight if they do not get results and find their rhythm
soon.
There had been many expectations placed on the Tyneside club after last season’s impressive 5th place finish. The club had managed victories over the likes of Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, and had two of the best strikers in the league.
Many expected Newcastle to be active in the summer transfer window. The club was linked with a number of players all summer, but failed to make headway when it came to transfers, and only signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vurnon-Anita-c36486 from Ajax as their major summer signing.
With so many players out injured and suspended, Newcastle were expected to have a difficult start to the Premier League. Now that most of the players have returned, the team has still failed to impress.
Vurnon Anita insists that must win their next games and take it their opponents. The team is still without an away win this season, and were disappointed when they lost to Fulham at Craven Cottage on the weekend.
The midfielder was disappointed that they were unable to get a result despite their fighting performance and said:
“We worked hard for it but it didn’t happen. But we must keep our faith and work harder. It will come if we do that. Fulham were sharper than us at set plays. We must work on that and go on to the next game.”
“We played well but we still didn’t win. On Saturday against City we must go at full strength to win the game at home. At home we know we have to give everything. The crowd behind us can help us and I hope we can do our best on Saturday.”
