Newcastle United target http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vurnon-Anita-c36486 has reportedly agreed terms with the club, and is expected to fly to England to hold talks with Toon manager Alan Pardew regarding his role at the club.
The Dutch starlet has been a long term target of manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew, who has yet not been able to complete the transfer of any of his high priority targets so far. Despite having acquired youngsters Gael Bigirimana, Romain Amalfitano and Curtis Good, Newcastle
United have hit a brick wall when it came to signing more experienced players.
The club has failed to land Lille’s fullback http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Douglas-c11600. Both players are highly rated by Pardew, who has spent much of the summer trying to lure them to the Sports Direct Arena.
Anita was also one of these long term targets, but Pardew had experienced a number of problems with the transfer. Newcastle were unable to meet Ajax’s valuation of the player and the deal looked dead. However, reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and Holland claimed that
both clubs had finally agreed a transfer fee on Monday and that the player will move to Newcastle in the coming days.
The player’s father confirmed that an offer has been received from Newcastle for his son, but also said that discussions between both parties were still ongoing. He told the Dutch media that Anita wanted to meet Pardew to discuss his role with the Magpies.
The 23-year old left back/midfielder has still not ruled out a stay at Ajax, but is keener on a move to the Premier League. His father explained that the player wants to know the plans of Alan Pardew and his role in Newcastle’s bid for a top 4 finish in
the coming season. He also said that Anita wants to know what positions he will play for the club if he ends up moving there.
Being a highly versatile footballer, Anita can play at right back, left back and in the centre of midfield as a defensive midfielder. Meanwhile, Newcastle United’s first choice goalkeeper and Dutch international Tim Krul has praised Anita and looks forward
to his arrival. He said:
"He is a player that can play in multiple positions and put to good use.”
"I have played with him at youth level for Holland, and he is tough enough."
