The Dutchman was manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew’s latest signing of the summer as he arrived from Dutch champions Ajax earlier this month. Saturday’s clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge was the Dutch midfielder’s first ever Premier League game, and his lack of
experience was visible as he conceded a penalty that gave Chelsea the lead.
Newcastle went on to lose the game 2-0 as Belgian attacker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 followed up with Chelsea’s second goal. The Magpies had their moments to get a goal back, but Chelsea defended solidly and saw the game out in
comfortable fashion.
Pardew was disappointed by the result but was impressed by his side’s fighting spirit and character. He hailed his side’s efforts to get back into the game, and admitted that the result could have been much worse.
Vurnon Anita had a decent game for the Magpies, despite conceding the penalty which gave Chelsea the lead. The Dutchman admitted that he still needs time to adjust to the Premier League, but vowed that he will learn from this experience and only get better.
The penalty was the turning point of the game; Vurnon had stuck a leg out which brought down Torres and led to the penalty decision by referee Phil Dowd.
Many believed that Torres had dived and made the most out of the tackle. Anita holds the same opinion as he talked about his thoughts after the game.
“I will learn from this game. I’m improving my skills every time I play for the club. We must all learn from our mistakes, and keep on going with the good stuff.”
“I felt that I didn’t touch Torres. I haven’t seen the clip, but I feel that I didn’t touch him. The referee gave him a yellow card the second time.”
“I learn from playing against players like Torres. It’s a disappointing result, but it was good to start my first league game.”
