Anja Carman and Robert Zbogar excel in swimming events: Day three – 2011 Slovenia SC Nationals
Anja Carman of TK and Robert Zbogar of GBR excelled in swimming events by obtaining gold medals of Women's 100m back-stroke and Men's 400m Individual Medley(IM), respectively on day three of the 2011 Slovenia Short Course Nationals in Kranj, on Saturday,
November 26.
The session concluded after the finals of 100m back-stroke, 400m IM and 4*200m freestyle relay in Men's and Women's category.
The 26-year-old Carman obtained gold medal of Women's 100m back-stroke by posting a time of 59.98 seconds. She was trailed by Pia Pavlic of TK, who remained nearly three seconds away and hit the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 02.86 seconds for silver
medal.
The 17-year-old Pavlic remained 1.37 seconds ahead of Iza Sencar of SDD, who reached the podium for bronze medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 04.23 seconds.
Next was the Men's 400m IM, where the arena witnessed fantastic effort of Zbogar. The 22-year-old Zbogar outshined his competitors by clinching gold medal of the event in a time of 4 minutes and 19.15 seconds.
With his immaculate efforts, he remained 5.90 seconds ahead of Rok Resman of TK, who settled on the podium for silver medal with a timing of 4 minutes and 26.05 seconds. The third spot of the race was claimed by Nejc Jurjevcic of LL, who remained almost
one second slower and reported a time of 4 minutes and 27.00 seconds.
Moments later, the crowd witnessed gruelling effort of Ursa Bezan of TK in the Women's 400m IM. The 17-year-old Bezan clocked a finest time of 4 minutes ands 44.75 seconds for gold medal. She was followed by Neza Marcun of TK, who remained almost four seconds
slower and ended her swim in a time of 4 minutes and 49.32 seconds.
The 16-year-old Marcun remained 2.40 seconds ahead of her team-member, Spela Bohinc, who reported a time of 4 minutes and 51.72 seconds for bronze medal. Meanwhile, the relay squad of TK secured gold medal of Men's 4*200m freestyle with the timing of 7 minutes
and 51.46 seconds.
They remained nearly half a second ahead of team OL, who reached the podium for silver medal with an effort of 7 minutes and 51.96 seconds. The third spot of the relay event was secured by ZVK Team, which clocked a timing of 8 minutes and 16.59 seconds.
Next was the similar event in the Women's corner, where GBR's squad pocketed gold medal in a time of 8 minutes and 13.97 seconds. The second position of the relay event was secured by TK team, which submitted an effort of 8 minutes and 17.57 seconds.
The silver medallists were followed by relay squad of CK that posted a time of 9 minutes and 24.78 seconds for bronze medal.
The session concluded after the completion of all scheduled events while the winners were awarded accolades after the session.
