  1. Pay attention to the ball and dont be afraid to touch the floor and DIVE and dont be shy it is ok to be loud and just try your hardest take any tips for the coach and try them they usally sound weird but work really well

          GOOD LUCK @ TRY-OUTS!!

  2. MOVE YOUR FEET!!! thats what my coach says. Also, bend your knees and come up with them instead of moving your hands or jumping for the ball.

  3. Below are some tips that I give to beginners and those who need basics. Hope this will help.

No matter how much you play, FIRST learning the basic skills and using the right forms, motion, and posture is most importanat. If you don't do this, you'll never reach your full potential. I know people who have been playing volleyball for decades but still suck because they never picked up the basic skills. Once you pick up bad moves and it becomes habitual, you're in deep trouble because it's very hard to lose them. Basically, you would always use wrong techniques to pass, set, and hit.

    Passing:

    1. Contact point - Put your hands and forearms together with both arms straight.

You can use the whole forearms to pass but there's a sweet spot right above your wrists. Do not hit the ball with your wrists or fists.

    2. Posture - Bend your knees and keep your arms up making arms and thighs parallel and 90 degrees to your body. It's all about eye-hand coordination. When you keep your arms up they're closer to your eyes.

    3. Motion - Lean forward slightly standing on your forefoot when waiting for serves. This helps you react faster.

Chase the ball, position yourself, get in to 'the posture,' wait for the ball, and let the ball hit your forearms and bounce off.

Don't swing or jump at the ball. You should have the arms up and ready to pass before making the contact.

    Setting:

Locate the ball, position yourself facing where you're setting not the ball, and place your hands above your head. Make a triangle with your hands without touching. See the ball through the triangle making your head, the triagle, and the ball in a straight line. Push up the ball by snapping your wrists and fingers while extending your arms and legs. Most important - Hands should be up before you make the contact. Also, use all five fingers with thumbs being the most important. Don't just use the fingertips but the whole lengths of your fingers for better control.

    Hitting;

When you swing your arms up to hit, place your elbow, bent about 90 degrees, above and behind your shoulder. The palm should also face away from your head. Swing and fully staighten your arm when making the contact with the ball.

Best way to master the basic skills is to pepper and when you do this, always use the correct posture and full motion. Just pepper a lot whenever you get chance. Repetition makes perfection. Build the right techniqes into your body. Good Luck

  4. In volleyball defense and offense change back and forth quickly. Defensively Your shoulders should be in front of your knees and your knees in front of your toes as you stay low. Keep your eyes on the ball. When you see the ball is in your passing area, call the ball three times before you pass the ball. When passing move to the ball with your feet while remaining square to the net (facing the net).  Defensive position is very important as the ball moves fast and your must place yourself in the best position to recieve the ball. So as soon as you learn defensive positions, memorize them and get to them fast. Offensive positioning is important as well. Athleticism will get you far, but discipline will win the game. Volleyball hitting generally uses a three step approach. It can be longer than three steps, but the last three are always the same. For a right handed person, it is Left right-left. A large left step, then a large right step, then bring your right next to your left (about shoulder width apart) and jump. It is the opposite for a left handed person. When beginning form is more important than outcome, so worry less about passing perfect and hitting perfect or well and concentrate more on doing it the right way. good luck.i hope you love it like I do.

  5. Practice, Practice, Practice!!! :) and condition. Always push yourself!!! And never give up. if u are super dedicated, you can do drills and try to have a volleyball in your hand every chance you get.

  6. yeah a lot of PRACTICE, always stay focus on the ball and be positive...

Needs a lot patience until to learn all the basics

GOOD luck and show ur personal power!!!!!

  7. be confident, and whatever happens, or whatever people say, don't give up. listen to the coaches and after tryouts, ask them what you can to to improve your hitting/setting/passing/serving/blocking... talk to people who play volleyball, and practice hard. at the high school level, the people who play are the ones who work the hardest, and are good.

  8. Well there is alot of tips. You got to learn not to be afraid of the ball. You also need to learn the basics. The proper way to pass and how to keep control of the ball, serving is a little harder but is easy once you get the hang of it!  Since you are just starting out you really dont need to be worried or learn spiking and setting quite yet. That will come later. You can also do some easy drills. Bump it (or four arm pass) it to yourself as many times as you can. Thats one way you can keep it under control. You and someone else that has experience can pass it back and forth. Here is a site that will tell you the proper ways to block, serve, pass, spike, and set. http://www.angelfire.com/sports/huntingt... Good Luck!

  9. expect to get the worst pass or hit possible and be ready to take it

think about the possibilities and take all the chances u have to get the ball

dont ever let a ball drop between u and another player

coaches hate that more than anything

  10. Be confident but not over confident. You also should love the game. Competative high school volleyball is not your average rotation in a box, there is more rotations to remember. You should get a volleyball and practice, practice, practice. Passing/bumping, and setting to yourself will help with your control. And to practice your serving use a clothes line, swing set, or even a bought volleyball net and try to get it over. Keep backing up to see how far back you can serve from. Work on targeting by tossing up and bumping the ball to a specific place like a tuft of grass or a dollar bill. Be creative when thinking of ways to practice.

  12. Practice alot! Maybe buy a volleyball from like walmart or target or something and practice as much as you can! Just maybe like bumps and volleying to yourself. Also maybe some serving to someone i dont know. It all helps at least a bit!

  13. don't be afraid of the ball and just always be ready because it could be coming to you anytime!!!

  14. ummm...well i think just practace!!!! Just have confidence in what you are doing. Learn to really have love for the sport, and you will do great! Its a great sport for friends to play together(well most are lol)....um just make sure you know the basics, bumping, setting, hitting....and then soon you will be able to improve your level and you will do great...........good luck with everything!
