Ankara holds International Referee Candidate Course – Volleyball news
The Capital City of Turkey, Ankara is currently holding the first referee coaching course of the season.
The Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB) collaborated with Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF), in order to organise the seven-day International Referee Candidate Course (IRCC) in Ankara. The training course started off on Monday, March 19 and it
will complete its run on March 25.
The course is attended by 20 coaches from 13 different countries of the world. The secretary general of Turkish Volleyball Federation and vice-president of Confederation European de Volleyball (CEV), Sinem Mavili welcomed the participants of IRCC.
Sergey Titov of Russia has been appointed as the director of this ongoing International Referee Coaching Course by the FIVB, while Jacek Spisak of Poland is performing his duties as the official FIVB instructor. Both of them appreciated the effort of Turkish
Volleyball Federation and thanked them for preparing and organising the course.
The main objective of the referee coaching course is to train the national and international coaches. The FIVB has great concern about the proper education and training of coaches and referees, who actually play an influential role in the matches. This course
is aimed to improve their knowledge of the game and to introduce them to modern trends in the sport.
The coaching course in Ankara has been especially designed for the indoor volleyball coaches.
However, the FIVB has three beach volleyball coaching courses on its schedule. The IRCC in Turkey will be followed by next course in Tunisia, which will take place from March 24-31.
In the month of April, Thailand will hold a beach volleyball coaching course, while India will organise a volleyball referee and coaching course in the same month. Later on, Dominican Republic, Tunisia, Thailand and Turkey will have more of such courses.
The International Volleyball Federation has announced a total of 10 International Referee and Coaches Courses in the running year.
Nine of the courses will entertain both gender participants but Turkey will host a separate IRCC in September which will be open for female coaches only. The last IRCC for 2012 will be held in October and Thailand will provide the training facility.
