Ok I have the opportunity to study at Bogazici University in Istanbul or METU in Ankara. I will be studying in one of those cities for a semester or a year. I am an american college student and I wanted to know which city is best for college students? Which one has the better nightlife? Which one could an american student live in easier?

  1. I'd also ask about the night life primarily, Blunt. The informal description of a university is looking like you are doing something important and very hard where u actually club and party and miss classes thus u actually learn to socialize and live your life.

Trotskaya and Blunt are right, Boğaziçi all the way. The number of festivals skyrocket in Istanbul if u happen to come here towards summer, clubs r way too many and i assure u, if you are not from Los Angeles or NYC, u wont want to turn back.

While on it, I'm taking off from home to Taksim now, going to Mono probably, not made up my mind yet. Or maybe some club in Asmalımescit. I'm pretty sure Ankara doesnt have Mono kind of niche (80s music) clubs but only a handful of popular music type of clubs.

http://www.hangibar.com/mekan/ U can see a list of clubs in both cities from there (not all are included tho)

EDIT: Hmm Blunt, the worst thing that would happen is a couple of prolonged semesters when u miss some exams.

  2. METU>Bogazici

    Istanbul>Ankara

If I were you and If I was NOT going for doctorate, I would have chosen Istanbul.

    I hope this helps :)

  3. You are going for an academic year and you are asking for nightlife. I thought one would ask about the professors.

Sorry, this one is beyond my academic standards. Go to Istanbul.

Edit: You would want your doctor, your banker, your civil engineer, your architect, etc. to have taken his/her education seriously, Greetings Losers. At least I do.

  4. Definitely go to Boğaziçi. METU is a great university, but Ankara is way too boring for a student.Trust me, I am a student in Ankara and I know it.
