Ankle braces vs. taping ankles

is there any real big difference between getting an ankle brace (let's say active ankle t2) versus a really good tape job on your ankle (from someone who knows how to tape ankles) ?

I've been trying to decide whether it is worth getting two ankle braces or just getting one and taping my other ankle.
