Ankle injury rules out Bengals’ defensive tackle Pat Sims for rest of the season – NFL News
An ankle injury has ruled out the Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Pat Sims for rest of current season of the American professional football's premier league, National Football League (NFL).
The latest tests results have confirmed that Sims' injury was severer than initially thought making his availability impossible for rest of the games in current season.
The Bengals after confirmation of season ending injury have placed the player on the injured reserve list, hinting at that they are not hoping for his return this season.
Pat Sims had been forced on the sideline in the Bengals game against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to his injury last Sunday.
The player was in protective boot on his left foot during Bengals practice session on Wednesday looking anxious to take part in the workout. He however denied speaking about status of his injury and chances of his return before
end of current season. Only statement he made was that he was disappointed to not have chances to play this season again.
Sims had earlier hoped to return at some point later this season. The latest results however have diminished all his hopes of making it to his side for rest of the season including playoffs.
Bengals coach Marin Lewis said that additional tests have shown that Sims injury was serious ruling him out for rest of the season.
Meanwhile the Cincinnati Bengals also announced to have signed a new defensive tackle to replace him from their next game.
The new signee Nick Hayden had been released by the Carolina Panthers before start of this season. He had been signed by the Panthers as sixth round draft pick in 2008. He had started for the side for 10 consecutive games last
season, but was removed from their active roster this year.
The Cincinnati Bengals who were chasing the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens closely behind in the American Football Conference (AFC) north division with hopes for making it to playoffs lost the race with 7-35 defeat against
the Steelers last Sunday.
The Bengals 5-7 are now well behind the Steelers and Ravens. Both sides are tied 9-3 atop north division.
