Ankle pain?? What to do??

I woke up this morning and my ankle really hurts. I don't remember doing anything to it. There is no swelling. But if I walk normally, the pain is severe. Seems to help if I walk with my foot pointing out. I have to go out in public soon.

Any idea what might have cause it and what I might do about?

  1. I wore some flip flops to the beach and used my toes  instead of my reg. shoes and that caused  for my ankle to hurt for a couple days. When it starts to hurt I put a ace bandage [not tight]around it so I can go out and do things throughout the day.

I used a different muscle when i used different shoes

  2. Yeah, I'd go with the Advil myself. It may not look swollen, but it could be inflamed inside. Ice will likely help too. Or one of those elastic bandages....you could wrap it and see if that helps with the walking.

Good luck with that, hope it gets better.

  3. Oh yea! - you got your collar again.  You wear it well.

Without any trauma to your ankle, it is a bit of a mystery - maybe arthritis, but you are a little young for that diagnosis.  Anyway, like Restless suggested, put some ice on it, take some Tylenol or Advil for the pain, and wrap it with an ace bandage for support. Try to minimize your walking on it for a couple of days, at least, and keep it elevated on pillows when you are sitting.  If the pain gets worse, you might want to see a Dr. and get some X-rays taken.

  4. One of the other things it could be is a stretched tendon or tendonitis. Having a past injury doesn't seem to cause this particular problem.

I have this problem (still do) and when I stand on it too long it really hurts. I finally broke down and went to the doctor about it..he prescribed low dosage steroids for 10 days and that seemed to repair it. I keep reinjuring it, however, when I run and swim. Something to take into consideration if your like me and don't like to go to the doctor.

**I thought I had cracked a bone at first. It felt like a chipped bone, sharp pain when I took weight off it. It didn't hurt as much when I was walking on it, but it throbs when I'm off of it and propping it.**

  5. A person can turn his or her ankle and not pay much attention to it at the time, but later on it can develop into some bad pain and swelling.

It might help to have a friend go get you an ACE ankle bandage from the pharmacy, and see if that helps with the healing while relieving the symptoms.

  6. The best thing to do is remineralize the tendons. Epsom salts is magnesium sulfate - two substances which support muscle health. Eat anti-inflammatory herbs such as rosemary and oregano. I use Bosweillia for any pain, like its an aspirin.

Also, there is something in home grown and macerated marigold flowers that heals bruises. It must be kept in a jar filled halfway with olive oil for three days.

  7. you might have twisted it in your sleep. Just take some Tylenol or Advil liquid Gels and rub a green liquid that you can get at walmart called Absorbine Junior. It really helps
