  1. i  had that popping feeling before.

  2. go to the doctor,,, i have the same problem kinda!!

  3. first thing to do is STOP WALKING ON IT NOW

did you continue to walk on it right after it first happened up til now? if so that is a bad idea.

i sprained my ankle and it looked just like yours. not know anything about it and only having minor sprains in the past i thought it was no big deal and would heal in a couple of weeks. i walked on it in those weeks and it hurt so bad i gave in and used crutches. then i learned what i had been doing when walking on it was preventing it from healing and most likely just made it worse. took me 8 months to heal! i think its permanently damaged now. its been over a 2 years now and the ankle is still slightly larger than normal (probably scar tissue underneath) and i dont have as much range in it (dont be scared its fine just a tad limited) as my other foot and it makes popping sounds (like knuckles cracking). but it doesnt hurt.

so you should definitely get it checked out but first and foremost stop walking on it!

    ETA:

well mine doesnt pop when walking normally. just when i make my foot do a tight roll. i dont recall it popping when it hurt either.

  4. Go to the doctor.  I broke my ankle last week, and the nurse told me that sometimes a sprain can be even worse than a break.  You need to get that checked out before you have permanent damage.  Good luck.

  5. Get to the Dr.  NoWWWWWW!!!!  You need medication to reduce the swelling if it is a sprain and a x-ray wouldn't hurt either.  Good Luck Geez.
