Ankle surgery rules http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566 out of IPL-5 - Cricket News Update
Indian pace bowler, Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the upcoming season five of the lucrative Indian Premier League, after undergoing an ankle surgery.
Sharma, the 23-year-old lanky medium-pacer from Delhi went under the knife on his left ankle in England earlier this month, and is likely to stay out of action for almost six months. Sharma’s IPL franchise, the Deccan Chargers have
confirmed the news and they are seeking permission from the IPL governing council for a replacement.
Sources close to Sharma have revealed that the fast bowler is currently focused on his recovery and is eying a comeback to the national side, setting his target as the home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
"The wound is likely to heal in three months' time and he is solely focusing on that," a source close to the gangling pacer told ESPNcricinfo.
The 23-year-old Delhi fast bowler sustained a bone impingement on his left ankle and a ligament tear on his left foot during India’s winless tour of England last summer and after delaying the surgery for more than half a year, the
lanky pacer decided to go ahead with the surgery after he returned home from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in January.
Even in the gruelling four-match Test series against the Aussies Down Under, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 pacer had bowled with a troublesome ankle. Sharma remained inconsistent during the disastrous Test series, claiming just five wickets at an average
of 90.20.
The fast bowler had also considered postponing the surgery till after IPL-5, which ends on May 27. But in that case, the Indian pacer would have had to miss a busy Indian season, which sees India touring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 for three Tests
in July, host New Zealand for three Tests in August-September, before hosting http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in November-December late in the year for four Tests. Sandwiched between the home series against Kiwis and the Poms is the World T20 Championship, to be played in Sri Lanka
in September this year.
In the last edition of the Twenty20 league, Sharma claimed 11 wickets in 12 matches at an impressive average of 28.54. To date, he has played 11 T20 Internationals for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, claiming six wickets at 48.50.
