Anna Chakvetadze blasts through Irina Buryachok to clear the first qualifier – Tashkent Open 2012
Former world number five, Anna Chakvetadze, demolished the 270th ranked Ukrainian professional, Irina Buryachok, in the first qualifying round of the Tashkent Open on the eve of Saturday. She dismissed her in straight
sets 6-1, 6-0; allowed just one serve hold throughout the encounter.
The Russian started the match with a serve hold and mounted pressure on her rival after winning the first breakthrough of the match in the following game. She continued to press and converted another serve game to her favour that
protected her breakpoint as well as exerted immense stress on her opponent.
Nothing was going right for the 26-year-old Ukrainian who failed to hold serve for the second time in a row. She was looking extremely poor and the agony was building inside her that forced some rash shots as well. A complete uncharacteristic
performance from the right-handed Ukrainian drowned her to a trail of 0-5 and pushed her to a spot where she had to restore some respect by holding on to her third serve game.
Buryachok managed to deny he opponent from registering a bagel but couldn’t hold the 25-year-old Russian blonde from winning the following game and rounding off the first set proceedings in just seven games. Trailing one set down,
the 270th ranked Ukrainian looked a bit out of her socks and clearly agonized by her first set display.
The pressure of performing well didn’t help her cause at all. She failed to hold serve in the first game of the second phase and couldn’t win a single point on her competitor’s serve game. It was a miserable performance from the
Ukrainian professional who was thumped away to a massive trail of 0-4 in the second set courtesy some outstanding shot selection from Chakvetadze.
Moving towards another opportunity to register a bagel, the Russian beauty queen made no mistake at all in ousting her opponent for the third straight time in the return game that piled up a tremendous lead of 5-0. She lost just
one point on her serve game won the encounter in just under an hour.
Alla Kudryavtseva is the next opponent for Anna Chakvetadze.
