Anna DeMonte claims Girl’s 200 yard IM title in Michigan: 2011 High School State Championships
Anna DeMonte of Ann Arbor Huron proved her mettle against her rivals at the 2011 High School State Championships, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, during the last weekend. DeMonte grabbed Girl’s 200 yard Individual Medley (IM) title.
More importantly, Anna DeMonte beat her challengers including Sami Stelpflug of Clarkston and Maddy Loniewski of Farmington Hills Mercy by posting a winning time of 1 minute and 59.67 seconds to notch the Girl’s 200 yard IM title. After the race, the silver
title went to Stelpflug in a mark of 2 minutes and 04.22 seconds and Loniewski claimed bronze medal by clicking the finishing divider in a time of 2 minutes and 04.82 seconds, respectively.
In the meantime, Ashleigh Shanley of Ann Arbor Skyline grabbed fourth position by hitting the finishing hurdle in a time of 2 minutes and 06.84 seconds and Cristina Czyrka of Saline earned fifth place honours by hitting the finishing fence in a time of 2
minutes and 08.88 seconds, correspondingly. In addition, the sixth position was captured by Andrea VanderMey of Novi in a time of 2 minutes and 09.11 seconds.
Shannon Cowley of Ann Arbor Skyline claimed seventh place honours by thrashing the finishing barrier in a spot of 2 minutes and 10.36 seconds. Finally, eighth place went to Northville’s Catherine Cui in a mark of 2 minutes and 10.58 seconds.
On the other hand, the Girl’s 200 yard Individual Medley B final was clinched by Nicole Hranchook of L’Anse Creuse in a winning time of 2 minutes and 09.15 seconds. Meanwhile, Emily Lau of Saline earned second place honours in a time of 2 minutes and 09.97
seconds and Annie Valentine of Farmington Hills Mercy settled third in a blot of 2 minutes and 10.43 seconds.
Last, but not the least, Riley Hilbrandt of Saginaw Heritage picked fourth place in a time of 2 minutes and 10.74 seconds and Sarah Smith of Rockford earned fifth place honours in a spot of 2 minutes and 10.78 seconds. Due to the stunning performance of
Anna DeMonte, she was awarded a gold medal after the session’s conclusion.
